Welcome at the Chair of Labour Economics

We try to understand how labour markets work

We investigate theoretically and empirically how labour markets work with a particular focus on the microeconomic and macroeconomic consequences of labour market policy, the role of labour market institutions, and the consequences of immigration. What are the consequences of enhancing labour market flexibility? What happens if the government changes eligibility criteria for unemployment benefits? Do immigrants affect wages and employment in the host country? How does globalization affect workers’ wages?
